I’m going to keep this short & sweet. Minimalism is NOT a competition.
It’s not a competition to see who can get rid of more stuff.
It’s not a competition to see who can spend less money.
It’s not a competition to see who can have the fewest items in their home.
It’s none of that.
It’s simply a way to be more intentional about life, in whatever way that means for you.
Minimalism is a tool to help you clear out the excess crap in your life, be it emotional, mental, and/or physical, so that you can be more intentional about what you focus on and allow into your life.
And it’s not a quick process. It takes time, and there are many layers. As I mentioned above there are the emotional, the mental, and the physical layers, plus soooo many layers inside of each of those. You’re only just hitting the surface after doing your initial decluttering of physical items.
I know I’m still on my journey and always will be, but I’m not gonna lie — taking that first step and doing a massive decluttering has made all the difference.
Your decluttering doesn’t have to be massive, either. It could just be an initial, quick sweep of one room, or of your entire house or apartment, just simply getting rid of the obvious items that you don’t need, aren’t using, have unnecessary duplicates of, etc.
